Single-Core XLPE Cables
- Description:
- These cables contain only one conductor insulated with XLPE. They're typically used where each phase of a system is laid separately.
- Features:
- Used in high-current or high-voltage installations
- Easier to install in ducts or trays where space allows
- Requires proper separation to reduce electromagnetic interference
- Often armored with AWA (Aluminum Wire Armour) to prevent magnetic heating in AC systems
- Applications:
- Power transmission (especially at HV/MV)

Multi-Core XLPE Cables
- Description:
- These cables contain two or more insulated conductors in a single outer sheath. Common configurations include 2-core, 3-core, 3.5-core, and 4-core cables.
- Features:
- Easier and quicker to install than bundling single cores
- More compact for limited-space installations
- Armor typically consists of SWA (Steel Wire Armour) for mechanical protection
- Often includes an earth/neutral conductor (e.g., 3.5-core)
- Applications:
- Low and medium voltage power distribution
