1. Cable Manufacturer's Data Sheets

Purpose: These documents provide detailed specifications for a specific cable, including electrical, mechanical, and environmental properties.
Key Information: Cable type (e.g., armored, shielded, unshielded)
Voltage rating (e.g., 600V, 1000V, etc.)
Current carrying capacity (e.g., amps)

Cables used in industrial, commercial, and specialized environments often need to comply with global standards for safety, performance, and installation.
IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission): A leading standards body for electrical and electronic systems.
UL (Underwriters Laboratories): In the U.S., UL standards are commonly used to test and certify cables for safety, including for hazardous environments.

Oil & Gas Cable Standards: Refer to ISO 9001 for quality management in cable manufacturing for these industries.
Fiber optic cables: For high-speed, long-distance data transmission, fiber optic cables come in two main types: single-mode (long-distance) and multimode (shorter distances).
Automotive wire standards: Choose wire that conforms to SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) standards, such as SAE J1128 (for low-voltage, 12V systems) or SAE J1127 (for general automotive wiring).

CE Marking: Indicates compliance with European Union (EU) safety, health, and environmental requirements.
RoHS Compliance: Ensures that cables are free from certain hazardous substances (e.g., lead, mercury).
Halogen-free: Cables intended for use in sensitive environments (such as in buildings with strict fire safety requirements) may need to be halogen-free to minimize toxic fumes in the event of a fire.

Bend Radius: Check the cable’s bend radius (minimum curve the cable can handle without damage) to avoid physical strain during installation.
Pulling Tension: Ensure the cable can withstand the mechanical stress of being pulled during installation, especially for longer distances.
Climatic Conditions: Verify that cables selected for outdoor installation are rated for weather resistance and UV protection.
